Credit Card Fraud
Credit card fraud includes:
Skimming (recording credit card data from the magnetic strip).
Applying for credit using someone else’s personal information.
Using stolen credit card information for purchases.
Using a lost or stolen credit card.
This crime is a wobbler, meaning it can be charged as a misdemeanor (up to 1 year in county jail and a $1,000 fine) or a felony (probation, up to 3 years in state prison, and fines up to $10,000), depending on the case.
