Criminal Threats
Criminal threats involve threatening to kill or seriously injure someone through verbal, written, or electronic means, causing the recipient reasonable, sustained fear. The threat must be unconditional, immediate, and specific.
This is a wobbler offense, meaning it can be charged as a misdemeanor (up to 1 year in county jail and a $1,000 fine) or a felony (up to 3 years in state prison and fines up to $10,000).
