Human Trafficking
Human trafficking involves restricting a person’s liberties through fraud, coercion, or violence to force labor, sell them for sex, or exploit them for obscene purposes.
A conviction is a felony, with penalties based on the case:
Standard cases: 8, 14, or 20 years in state prison and fines up to $500,000.
Involving minors: 5, 8, or 12 years in state prison.
Involving force, fraud, or violence: 15 years to life in prison and fines up to $500,000.
