Shoplifting occurs when someone enters a business intending to steal property valued under $950.

• Misdemeanor (no prior convictions): Up to 6 months in county jail, $1,000 fine, and summary probation.

• Felony (with prior convictions): Up to 3 years in county jail, $10,000 fine, and formal probation.
